Volotea is setting its course for the Summer, taking off from Venice to a wide range of destinations both in Italy and abroad
Venice, 14 July 2020 - Volotea, the airline of mid and small sized European cities, hit the 30-million passenger mark on its international flights in Venice today, after only 8 years in business. This noteworthy achievement is testament to the airline's continuous growth and was celebrated at a special ceremony at Venice Airport, attended by Carlos Muñoz, President and Founder of Volotea and Michela Borin, the awarded passenger.
Michela, a 58-year old yoga instructor from Treviso, was the 30-millionth passenger on board one of Volotea's European flights and, at Marco Polo airport, she was treated to an extra-special surprise: 30 months' worth of free flights on all Volotea routes departing from Venice airport.
"Volotea and SAVE Group have formed a perfect partnership over the course of the years and we are truly happy that we are able to celebrate the 30-millionth passenger on one of our flights, right here at Marco Polo airport, the very place where our first flight took-off back in 2012," explained Carlos Muñoz, President and Founder of Volotea. "Today marks an important achievement which really gives credence to our strategy of offering convenient, direct connections to a wide range of diverse destinations and which, particularly during these unique times, is all the more significant, giving new hope as we see the tourism sector bounce back, not just here in Veneto, but across the entire country. The services we offer have had to undergo of re-modelling following the Covid-19 emergency and we have increased the frequency of our flights from Venice to some of the more desirable destinations in Italy: now it'll be even quicker and easier to depart from Veneto and reach Southern Italy and the main islands. And let's not forget our destinations abroad, with our flights jetting off to some of the most beautiful locations in Spain, France and Greece. What's more, we have implemented stricter hygiene measures on board our aircrafts, safeguarding the health of both our passengers and crew so that summer holidays can be enjoyed in total safety. We hope that we'll be able to celebrate new achievements together with SAVE in the near future, our reliable partner who has seen us grow flight after flight, both from Venice and Verona."
"Volotea's project was immediately enthusiastically embraced by our Group, in a partnership that has been consolidated over the years at both Marco Polo in Venice and Catullo in Verona - said Monica Scarpa, CEO of the SAVE Group - The strength of Volotea is that of having been able to interpret the travel needs of our catchment area, stimulating them through the opening of new markets such as, for example, the French provinces and Greece. Today's milestone confirms that the choice made in 2012 to start operations from Venice has proved successful, with prospects for further developments also based on the evolution of the current situation".
