Tenerife, the island of eternal spring, is the perfect place to relax and have fun. Mount Teide, Spain’s highest point and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the crowning glory of a holiday destination that has it all: culture, picturesque villages, breathtaking scenery, heavenly beaches, huge festivals and a cuisine that the whole family will love. Tenerife has over 400 km of coastline and 70 km of beaches, with white and golden sand at beaches like Las Teresitas, Las Vistas and Troya beach. It links a succession of Blue Flag beaches that also offer water sports of all kinds (paddle boarding, windsurfing, parasailing, etc.). The Paseo Maritimo is also close to some small fishing harbours and the ports from which ferries set sail for other islands. The island’s traditional towns and villages also play an important role in Tenerife’s rich culture. You can admire the historic buildings in the town of La Laguna, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with a free guided tour departing from the Tourist Office, which is located in the Casa de los Capitanes. Tours take in the old town and its best-known sights such as the cathedral, the Church of the Immaculate Conception, the Canary Islands Instituto Cabrera Pinto and the Plaza del Adelantado. The historic quarter of La Orotava has been classified as a historical site of interest and the old town of Garachico has been awarded the Gold Medal of Merit in the Fine Arts. In Santa Cruz, the island’s capital, the area around the Church of the Immaculate Conception and Calle La Noria is once again thriving.
